'How to Get Away With Murder' final season premiere reveals bombshell death of main character

Warning: spoilers ahead for the Season 6 premiere episode of How to Get Away With Murder.

The sixth and final season premiere of How To Get Away With Murder Thursday night had a lot of viewers talking about Viola Davis's incredible acting performance. However, the biggest bombshell of the night, and the most jaw-dropping moment of the entire series, happened in the final 60 seconds of the episode, when it was revealed whose murder would be uncovered this season.

The hugely successful ABC show, produced by Shonda Rhimes, has been centered around multiple murder mysteries throughout the last five seasons. However, the Season 6 premiere revealed that, this season, the victim might be Annalise Keating herself.

The episode, titled "Say Goodbye," opened with Annalise's funeral taking place, only for it to be revealed that Annalise was having a nightmare while in rehab. Cut to the end of the episode, when we got a glimpse into the future, during Annalise's real funeral.

Fans were losing it. Absolutely no one wanted to accept that after committing so much time to the series, they would have to mourn Annalise's death.

If Annalise's death is in fact true, killing off the main character for the final season would be incredibly ballsy of HTGAWM.

There are 14 more episodes left of the entire series, which means there are 14 more episodes to explain what the heck is going on and, if it is true, who did it. One thing is for sure — someone has a lot of explaining to do.

How to Get Away With Murder airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
