Howard Buford Recreation Area became a state park in the 1970s.

Now a county park boasting trails up Mt. Pisgah and Swing Hill and acres upon acres of original habitat, the natural area is celebrating its 50th anniversary over the course of the year.

For decades, the park has served as a popular place for recreation and education, including a visit from thousands of school children each year.

The Register-Guard is gathering people's memories to include in a story about the park's milestone.
