Host Willard second, St. Paul third at Invitational

Aug. 13—WILLARD — The host Willard boys golf team took runners-up and St. Paul placed third on Friday at the Willard Flashes Invitational at the Willard Golf Club.

Huron won the team title with a 331 over host Willard, which totaled a 349.

For Willard, Dylan Thompson and Max Dawson each shot 80s to finish third and fourth overall, respectively. Bryce Dials added a 92, while both Elijah Reed and Brayden Thompson each shot 97s.

The Flyers had all five of their golfers shoot in the 90s, led by Sam Scavuzzo's 92. Owen Romell and Dan Schwan each fired 94s and Gavin Thurston had a 97.

Plymouth (401) was paced by Jansen Potts (91), who was followed by Sarah Hoak (97), Canaan Slone (106) and Elliott Hall (107).

Edison 13th at Lakota Invite

FREMONT — The Chargers placed 13th on Friday at the 16-team Lakota Invitational at Sycamore Hills.

Korrigan Sanders and Parker Campbell led the Chargers (416) with 96s. Hayden Lewis followed with a 107 and Aaron Febbo had a 117.

New London ninth at Hillsdale

JEROMESVILLE — New London totaled a 394 to place ninth at the 14-team Hillsdale Invitational at Mohican Hills Golf Club.

For the Wildcats, Carter Eibel was seventh overall in the field with an 86. Brody Swords shot a 100, followed by Jayson Schaffer (103), Grady Heileman (105), Tate Landis (109) and Kendyl Moffit (116).

TENNIS

Norwalk 4, Bryan 1

PERKINS TWP. — The Truckers capped their dual schedule week with a third win in five days after topping Bryan in a non-league match at Perkins High School.

At first singles, Megan Miller defeated Reese Grothaus, 6-1, 7-6 (6). Sidney Sage rallied from dropping the first set at second singles to beat Caitlyn Dewitt (1-6, 6-0, 6-4).

Maya Phillips and Kendall Hammersmith won at first doubles over Taylor Peel and Katelan Nagel (6-0, 3-6, 6-1). The second doubles team of Lauren Brown and Kenzie Smith fell to Hannah Andrews and Molly Hess (6-1, 6-4).

In junior varsity action, Abby Mozina fell to Lucy Vashaw, 6-3.

The Truckers were set to host their annual doubles tournament on Saturday at Court 1 in Perkins.
