Two El Paso high school baseball players have been named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State team.
Eastwood's Isaac Herrera was named to the second team in Class 6A after hitting .422 with 11 doubles and 33 RBI. He also went 6-3 on the mound with a 3.05 ERA.
"To be named All-State means a great deal," Herrera said. "There are many great players in the state of Texas and it's an honor. I'm grateful for my teammates and coaches. We accomplished a great deal my senior year and I'm proud of that."
In Class 5A, Horizon's Barry Miller, Jr., was named to the third team as a pitcher. Miller, who will be a senior next season, was one of El Paso's top pitchers with an 8-3 record, 130 strikeouts in 68.2 innings and allowed 46 hits.
"It was a great honor to be named All-State and I'm working hard to be even better next year and help our team get better," Miller said. "I've been playing this summer and hitting the weight room to get stronger and increase my speed throwing the ball."
