Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Theresa McQueen has been caught in the act trying to cover up George Kiss' murder in Hollyoaks.

It has now been revealed that Theresa is one of the three final suspects for killing George, along with John Paul and Sally St. Claire – with the latest cliffhanger certainly dropping her right in the line of suspicion.

Following Theresa and James proving that George's friend PC Smith had exaggerated his "star witness" testimony against John Paul, the copper remained determined to discover the truth.

In Tuesday's first-look episode, PC Smith interrupted the McQueens welcoming John Paul to warn that he would not be giving up his investigation in spite of being suspended.

"You might think you've gotten away with it, but I'll get justice for George," he vowed. "It's only a matter of time before one of you gives the game away. I'll be ready when you do."

John Paul was left unsettled by PC Smith's threats, yet still had to explain to Matthew why he'd been away for several days.

Meanwhile, PC Smith managed to trick the McQueens by claiming that the police had found the murder weapon and warning that "George's killer was about to be unmasked".

Yet, when John Paul confronted DS Cohen for more information, she explained that PC Smith had been suspended and there was no discovery of the murder weapon.

"Just go home and stop interfering in the case," she warned.

This false sense of the security for the McQueens ultimately worked to PC Smith's benefit as he followed someone to a shed on the outskirts of the village.

Viewers saw the person unlock the shed, check that the bookend used in George's death was still safely hidden and then pull down their hoodie to show… Theresa!

As Theresa jogged off, PC Smith stepped out of the shadows to process his major discovery. Has the murderer been found?

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
