HOLLAND — Tulip Time might be over, but the Holland Farmers Market is just getting started.

The market will open for its regular season at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, rain or shine. From there, the local favorite will be available 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Holland's market is located outside Holland Civic Center Place, 150 W. Eighth St. Each season, the event brings together nearly 100 local famers, specialty food vendors and food trucks with fresh fruits and vegetables, bread and baked goods, honey, maple syrup, jams, meats and more.

“We couldn’t be more excited for the start of the 2022 season of the Holland Farmers Market,” said marketing coordinator Kara de Alvare. “After almost two summers of operating under COVID restrictions, we’re looking forward to getting back to normal this year and focusing all of our efforts on what we do best, which is connecting the community with fresh, healthy and local food. We can’t wait to welcome back all of our farmers, vendors and, of course, our loyal customers.”

Bridge Cards and Pandemic EBT cards are accepted at the market, which also participates in Double Up Food Bucks. The program allows Bridge Card holders to "double" their spending. Senior FRESH and WIC Project FRESH are also accepted.

Seasonal specialties expected at Wednesday's market include asparagus and rhubarb, along with a number of root vegetables, annual and perennial plants, hanging flower baskets and herb and vegetable starters.

This year, activities for children will return to the market after a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus. Those projects will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, and will continue every Wednesday through mid-August. The activity includes storytime hosted by Herrick District Library and a fun, educational, hands-on activity hosted by a partner organization.
