HiToms rout Martinsville

Jun. 18—MARTINSVILLE, Va. — The HiToms crushed Martinsville 18-3 in seven innings Wednesday in Coastal Plain League baseball at Martinsville.

Luke Spiva, a former Ledford and Post 87 standout, went 4 for 5 with a double and two RBIs to lead High Point-Thomasville (7-2), which scored 10 runs in the sixth and run-ruled its opponent for the second straight game.

Noah Ledford and Thomas Caufield each added two hits and two RBIs, Von Seibert had a hit and three RBIs, and Hogan Windish and CJ Johnson added a hit and two RBIs apiece for the HiToms.

Nicholas Holesa also had two hits and an RBI. Ledford and Holesa doubled, Windish tripled, and Seibert and Caufield homered as High Point-Thomasville totaled 15 hits for the game.

Ben Peterson got the win on the mound, striking out five while allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in four innings. Avery Cain, another former Ledford and Post 87 standout, and Landon Smith pitched in relief.

High Point-Thomasville, after playing Martinsville (5-6) at home Thursday, will host Forest City for a doubleheader Friday night.
