The Hudson Valley hospitality scene has been booming in recent years. In fact, it was just named one of the best places to go for 2023. From all-inclusive wellness retreats to culinary-focused resorts, the region is now home to a large variety of hotels offering distinct experiences. And the latest addition is just as unique and worthy of a visit.

Hutton Brickyards, a 100-acre resort/events retreat on the Hudson River in Kingston, New York, now has an inn, a new addition to complement the existing riverfront cabins and a sprawling residence.

Edgewood, a historic 1870s mansion, opened in October 2022 with 12 guest rooms, including three suites, two events spaces, and a restaurant and a bar focusing on seasonal fare and craft cocktails prepared with local ingredients.

The three-story inn built in the Second Empire style is managed by Salt Hotels and took a year to renovate. While the building's original façade with its beautiful tower, bay windows, and columned front porch has remained intact, the interiors have been updated to enhance the mansion's original architectural features and reflect the area's history. Rooms have seating areas with charming bistro tables, vintage furniture, authentic 19th-century touches, and a neutral color palette.

"Edgewood is an elegant addition to the Hudson Valley hospitality scene," Juan Vasquez, the property's general manager, told Travel + Leisure. "This property and these grounds hold so much history – it's great to see its opulent spaces restored and brought to life once again. Edgewood adds an entirely new layer to Hutton Brickyards and completes the experience at the historic property."

The hotel's signature restaurant and adjacent bar occupy the ground floor and the covered porch, offering views of the lawn and the Hudson River. Staying true to the Hutton Brickyards concept, the property adds two more event spaces to the estate. The Drawing Room and The Parlor are also located on the ground floor and could be rented for receptions, cocktail events, and other special occasions.

Hutton Brickyards served as a major brick manufacturer for over a century supplying materials for projects throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City. The business shut down in the 1970s, and after a decade of construction and preservation work opened as a modern events retreat in 2021.

You can now book your stay in Edgewood, where nightly rates start at $195.
