HIRSCHI, WFHS MIX IT UP: Huskies, Coyotes engaged in annual scrimmage Friday night
Hirschi and Wichita Falls High engaged in their annual scrimmage Friday night at Memorial Stadium. Both teams experienced highs and lows.
And while the only way to truly win a scrimmage is to get out of it without significant injuries, which both teams did, Hirschi did outscore Old High, 14-7, in the 12-minute live quarter.
The Huskies and Coyotes now turn their attention to next week's season openers.
Hirschi is traveling to West Texas, meeting Clint in a neutral site game at 7 p.m. Thursday in Andrews.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes engage in the annual crosstown showdown with rival Rider at 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium.
Several highlights from the scrimmage, including postgame reaction from Hirschi coach Lawrence Johnson and WFHS coach Grant Freeman, can be found below.

Only carry for @APeterson_27 during live quarter and the @HirschiFootball back looked powerful. When this #USC commit gets downhill, good things happen for the Huskies. He had two TD runs earlier in the scrimmage. pic.twitter.com/zGSb631KUr

Next play after Peterson's run, @JimmellMcfalls hits Hayden Greensweight on the slant for a TD.
This was the first of three great highlights for Greensweight. @HirschiFootball pic.twitter.com/jtKwmUcTr9— Jonathan Hull (@Hull_TRN) August 20, 2022
Nice tackled by @HirschiFootball's Bryan Wagonner @bwagg06 who was the tallest guy on the field and certainly passed the eye test. pic.twitter.com/qEoP1oSs1H

A lot of excitement about @coyote_football freshman RB Eric Powell who made two big plays during live quarter, including on this screen pass. He's going to play a substantial role for the Coyotes this season. pic.twitter.com/ewyVeMjT92

Here's @coyote_football freshman Eric Powell again breaking a big run. Pardon me getting out of the way of the official running down the sideline. Made me show off what little agility I have more than once tonight. pic.twitter.com/jKynLfWGoj

And here's Hayden Greensweight again with this beautiful over the shoulder catch. Didn't know what to expect from @HirschiFootball WRs not named Jamarion Carroll this season. Greensweight opened eyes tonight. pic.twitter.com/JLKSOWmOJD
