HIGH SCHOOL TRACK: O'Shea, Cain, Carson and Farnstrom take titles at Heart of Bluegrass

Apr. 18—Athletes from Madison County posted a total of 23 top-10 finishes — including four first-place performances — at the AJ's Heart of the Bluegrass Track Classic on Saturday in Mercer County.

Madison Central's Ciara O'Shea took the first in the 1,600-meter run (5:04.72) and was second in the 800-meter run, while teammate Kaitlyn Cain (11-01.00) won the pole vault competition and was eighth in the long jump.

Madison Southern's Brayden Carson took first place in the high jump (6-00.00) and was third in the triple jump, while teammate Jonah Farnstrom won the 400-meter (50.79) and was 12th in the 100-meter dash.

Central finished third in the boys team standings with 42 points. Southern was fourth (35).

Mercer County won the boys team title (88 points).

Central was ninth in the girls team standings with 29 points. Southern was 14th with 20 points.

West Jessamine won the girls team title with 72 points.

Central's Dirk Gambrell was second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles. Wyatt Stewart was second in the pole vault.

Brady Masters finished third in the 1,600-meter run and was fifth in the 800-meter run. Jeffrey Kinley was eighth in the 400-meter dash and Meredith Campbell was 10th in the 3,200-meter run.

Central had three top 10 finishes in boys relay events — third in 4x200, 6th in 4x800 and 10th in 4x100.

Southern's Kaylynn Wright finished third in the 100-meter dash, fourth in the 200-meter dash, sixth in the triple jump and 16th in the long jump.

Lane Brockman placed second in the discus and Kayleigh Moberly was third in the high jump.

Cody Blair was eighth in the discus and Jace Williams was ninth in the discus.

Carson was also 11th in the long jump and 18th in the 200-meter dash.
