HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lady Patriots blast Holmes; Southern falls twice

Apr. 18—The Lady Patirots (4-7) had just five hits, but still rolled to a 17-2 three-inning win over Holmes on Saturday in Richmond.

Model scored six times in both of the first two innings.

Hannah Smith started in the circle and went two innings, allowing two hits, one run and three walks with three strikeouts. Piper Moore pitched the final inning, allowing one hits and one run with two strikeout.

McKenna Tuttle scored three times and also drew a walk. Kenzie Ferguson was 1-for-1 with an RBI while scoring three times. Haley Hollis was 1-for-1 with an RBI, a walk and scored three times.

Avery Tuttle was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk while scoring three times. Anniston Bray walked twice and scored twice. Smith was 1-for-2 with a walk, RBI and scored a run.

Camilie Dyer walked three times, had three RBI and scored a run. Alana Newbill walked twice and scored a run, while Moore was 1-for-2 with two RBI,

Model will look to extend its winning streak to three games on Tuesday at Bath County.

Southern falls twice

The Lady Eagles fell to 6-5 on the season with a pair of losses on Saturday at the Dan Cummins Classic in Georgetown.

Madison Southern lost to Marshall County, 4-0, then suffered an 8-6 setback to Pendleton County.

The Lady Eagles are set to return to action Tuesday at home against Tates Creek.
