CHEERLEADING

Whitman-Hanson announces new coach: Via press release on Friday, W-H announced Elise McMahon has been hired as the school's new coach.

McMahon captained the East Bridgewater High team and won three state titles and four New England titles before continuing her cheer career at Westfield State University.

"I am extremely proud and grateful for the opportunity to take over as head coach of the Whitman-Hanson varsity cheerleading team. Back to my roots of the South Shore, I am ready to put in the work and push our limits with these 14-time state champions,” McMahon said.

The Panthers have a history of success and have won 45 league titles to go with several national championships.

“Above all else, at Whitman-Hanson we want coaches who see our student-athletes as people first who we can help guide and shape who they become by teaching the values that educational athletics affords students,” W-H athletic director Bob Rodgers said.  “Elise fits the bill and is right out of the same mold as our two terrific retiring coaches, Alyssa Pietrasik and Kayla Crawford.”

McMahon spent the last four years coaching at Hopkinton High. She's an elementary physical education teacher in Foxboro.
