HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Orlando sisters lead NDA girls basketball past Spellman

The Notre Dame Academy girls basketball team defeated Cardinal Spellman, 49-25, on Monday behind a pair of strong games from the Orlando sisters.

Ava Orlando, a newly minted 1,000-point scorer, scored a team-high 19 points. Elle Orlando added 15 points.

Lola Paradis also chipped in with 8 points. Jane Hilsabeck played well defensively.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Avon 40, Wareham 33: Hanelie Cadet led the way for the Panthers (6-4) with 22 points. Kylie Mallett added 6 points. Dahlia Parent and Uwa Idada combined for 16 rebounds.

Thayer Academy 55, Groton 42: The Tigers won the ISL game.

Mashpee 69, Middleboro 56: Freshman Olivia Mather scored 14 points for the Sachems (8-8). Natalie Kerstein (12 points) and Hailey Iwanski (10) were also in double digits.

Attleboro 32, Canton 29: Samya DaSilva led the Bulldogs with 7 points.

Fontbonne Academy 44, Arlington Catholic 35: Junior Lily Blow had a double-double (11 points, 13 rebounds) as the Ducks (9-3) picked up their fifth consecutive win. Alix Abelard scored a team-high 16 points and Colleen Fogarty added 11.

Bedford 54, Stoughton 33: The Black Knights lost the non-league game.

Seekonk 39, West Bridgewater 30: Jenella Jacobs scored 12 points for the Wildcats in the loss. Dorothea McGrath (8 points) and Grace Polen (6 points) also chipped in.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Avon 68, Norfolk Aggie 41: Jordan Medeiros led the way with 18 points for the Panthers.

Calvary Chapel 62, Carver 54: Tyler Lennox and Justin Grimes both scored 19 points in the loss for the Crusaders (10-5).

Seekonk 63, West Bridgewater 55: The Wildcats dropped the non-league game.

Middleboro 67, Mashpee 31: Junior Matt Youngquist scored 18 points to lead the Sachems (11-4).

Duxbury 41, Falmouth 29: Trevor Jones (15 points) and Tate Fiedler (14) led the Dragons (8-6) to their fifth consecutive win.

Attleboro 58, Canton 38: The Bulldogs (7-7) dropped the Hockomock League game despite 10 points from junior Jeremiah Predin.

Cardinal Spellman 85, Southeastern 58: The Cardinals (9-4) won the non-league game as Kristian Simpson scored 15 points, highlighted by making four 3-pointers in the third quarter. Luke McSharry (14 points, 7 rebounds) and Marvin Petit-Frere (11 points, 8 rebounds) also played well.

Holbrook 71, Atlantis Charter 45: Owen Burke (19 points) and Armani Perkins (16 points) led the Bulldogs to a road win. Jalik Fernandes (12 points) and Allen Brown (10) also contributed.

Lawrence 76, BC High 67: The Eagles lost the non-league game on Sunday.

Hingham 56, Brockton 54: On Sunday, Liam McBride scored a career-high 35 points to lead the Harbormen to the win. Chase Mello added 17 points and Eddie Rochte grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. Cam Monteiro scored 19 points in the loss.

BOYS HOCKEY

Catholic Memorial 3, BC High 1: Luke O'Sullivan scored in the loss on Sunday.

Arlington 3, Braintree 2 (OT): The Wamps lost in the Ed Burns Tournament on Sunday.

Hingham 3, Canton 1: Joe Hennessy, Connor Lasch and Brady Gannon scored for the Harbormen in the Ed Burns Tournament on Sunday.

Cohasset/Hull 6, South Shore Tech 4: The Skippers won the non-league game on Sunday.

Belmont 2, Marshfield 0: The Rams lost in the Ed Burns Tournament on Sunday.

Martha's Vineyard 2, Plymouth North 0: The Blue Eagles lost the non-league game on Sunday.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Old Rochester Regional 6, East Bridgewater/West Bridgewater 4: Kate Carabin played well in the loss on Sunday.

SKIING

Peter Wall Memorial: For the first time in SkiEast League history, BC High was not crowned champion of the Peter Wall Memorial grand slalom race held at Ragged Mountain in Danbury, New Hampshire, on Saturday. Hingham had five finishers in the top 10 to beat out the Eagles. Wall was one of the founders of the league and was the first Alpine ski race coach at BC High.

Olof Laurell (second), Trevor Buckeridge (fourth), Anders Holmquest (fifth), Ned Coyne (seventh), Cooper Murray (10th) and Ethan Parenll (16th) led the way for the Harbormen. Junior Liam Shepherd, of Norwell, was the first overall finisher.

There was also a first-time winner in the girls meet. Top-10 finishes from Callie Baker (fourth), Mallory Hahn (fifth) and Emma Cakounes (ninth) landed Norwell in first place. Freshman Libby Rogers, of Hingham, took first place as an individual.
