HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Middleboro girls snap skid, Scituate continues streak

Streaks were a theme in Friday night basketball.

The Middleboro High girls basketball stopped a four-game losing streak and Scituate extended its winning streak to five games.

The Sachems (6-4) defeated New Bedford, 53-41, as Riley Griffin scored 18 points. Shaunna Gallagher scored 12 points and Alexandra Williams added 8.

The Sailors defeated Hanover, 51-46, behind big scoring nights from Grace McNamara (17 points), Lindsay Hausmann (12) and Sarah Fogarty (10).

McKalah Gaine had a monster game (26 points, 18 rebounds) in the loss for the Hawks (6-6).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norwell 61, Abington 22: The Clippers won the South Shore League game as juniors Grace Oliver (16 points), Chloe Richardson (13) and Sara Cashin (12) powered the offense.

Holbrook 52, Atlantis Charter 33: The Bulldogs won their second game in as many days.

Bishop Connolly 49, Avon 15: Kylie Mallett scored 10 points in the loss while Uwa Idada had a solid game rebounding.

Blue Hills 55, Mount Alvernia 31: Freshman Kathleen Murphy posted a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds and Bridget Devine added 11 points for the Warriors (7-6).

South Shore Tech 47, Cape Cod Tech 25: Ellery Campbell (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Mia Bradshaw (13 points, 10 rebounds) posted double-doubles in the win for the Vikings (8-1). Tianna McDonald scored 6 points.

North Quincy 48, Quincy 30: Caroline Tracey led the Presidents with 12 points in the loss.

Brookline 61, Braintree 48: The Wamps dropped the Bay State Conference game.

Canton 66, Sharon 33: The Bulldogs won the Hockomock League game.

Fontbonne Academy 47, Cardinal Spellman 39: Colleen Fogarty scored a game-high 18 points in the win. Fogarty, Jess Laflamme and Tressa Murphy (8) had key free throws down the stretch. Maggie Bedard chipped in with 8 points.

Rockland 55, Carver 16: The Bulldogs take sole possession of first place in the South Shore League Tobin Division with the win.

Cohasset 62, Mashpee 43: Sarah Chenette (18 points), Laney Larsen (14), Abby Goff (12) and Mia Froio all finished in double digits for the Skippers. Emma Goff and Catherine Toomey also played well defensively.

Duxbury 40, Plymouth North 34: Sophomore Molly Donovan drained five 3-pointers to finished 22 points in the win. Lyla Peters, a freshman, added 6 points.

East Bridgewater 55, Randolph 19: Junior Phoebe Katilus had 11 points and 9 rebounds to lead EB (8-1, 4-1) to a South Shore League win. Senior Caroline Toomey (8 points), junior Kiersten Keenan (3 points, 9 rebounds) and sophomore Claire Caulton (4 points, 8 rebounds) also contributed. Ayanna Vega scored 9 points off a trio of 3-pointers in the loss. Cailyah Francis (6 points, 3 steals) and Jayla Smith (4 points, 5 rebounds) also played well for Randolph.

Oliver Ames 65, Foxboro 30: The Tigers jumped out to a 35-9 halftime lead and never looked back. Caroline Peper scored a team-high 18 points while Jasmyn Cooper had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 steals. Hailey Bourne (12 points) and Kaydance Derba (9) also chipped in.

Framingham 50, Milton 30: Junior Christine Maye played well in the loss.

Newton North 64, Weymouth 35: Junior Grace McCulley scored 11 points for the Wildcats (5-5) in the loss.

Whitman-Hanson 52, Hingham 37: The Panthers (11-0, 8-0) take sole possession for first place in the Patriot League Keenan Division with the win. Abby Martin scored 19 points.

Marshfield 51, Silver Lake 30: Sydney McCabe and Taylor Brilliant both scored 12 points in the win. Sadie Ellwood (11) and Allie Ferris (8) also chipped in. Kiley O'Brien had 21 in the loss.

North Attleboro 54, Stoughton 43: Makiayah Singleton Rivera scored 11 points in the loss.

Notre Dame Academy 48, Ursuline 31: Ava Orlando scored 18 points and her sister Elle added 12 in the win. Ava Foley chipped in with 7 points.

West Bridgewater 45, Westport 31: Sophia Florio didn't come off the floor and scored 17 points in the win. Jenella Jacobs grabbed 12 rebounds.

Pembroke 49, Plymouth South 41: Senior Kierstin Dinneen grabbed a school-record 22 rebounds in the win. She also scored 17 points and blocked 7 shots. Emma Ledger scored a career-high 12 points and freshman Caroline Balasco added 9. Keira Flynn, Lauren Jones, Zoe Wodja and Sarah Kenney played well for South in the loss.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Abington 62, Norwell 53: Antwonne Graham Jr. scored 24 points to lead the Green Wave (6-3, 5-1) to the South Shore League Sullivan Division win. Tommy Fanara added 15 points and Jeremiah Ismeus was a bucket shy of a double-double (8 points, 10 rebounds). Ryan Luccarelli (18 points) and Ethan Downey-Lamprey (17 points, 9 rebounds) had good scoring nights for the Clippers (4-5, 2-4). Matt Lever had a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds).

Archbishop Williams 67, Boston English 43: Senior forward Kevin Hamilton (Abington) had 16 points and 7 rebounds, and junior guard Josh Campbell (Plymouth) added 16 points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Bishops (8-3) won a non-league game.

BC High 59, St. John's Shrewsbury 42: BC High won the Catholic Conference game.

Braintree 61, Brookline 58: Nate Mede scored 26 points as the visiting Wamps (5-3) handed Brookline (9-1) its first loss.

Canton 59, Sharon 51: The Bulldogs won the Hockomock League game.

Carver 49, Rockland 46: The Crusaders picked up their first win over the Bulldogs for the first time in 'many years' according to Carver coach Mark Showan. Matt Mullins scored 14 points while Charlie Condon added 10. Tyler Lennox and JJ Grimes both scored 8 points.

Cohasset 62, Mashpee 43: The Skippers improved to 7-4.

Plymouth North 58, Duxbury 41: JayMori Leonard scored 22 points in the win. Alec Peruzzi (13 points, 8 rebounds) and Cody Quinn (6 points, 10 rebounds) both finished just shy of a double-double.

Randolph 67, East Bridgewater 31: All 11 players scored for the Blue Devils (7-1) and Stevens Joacine led the way with 19.

Oliver Ames 65, Foxboro 56: Zach Tagliamonte scored a game-high 18 points in the win. M.J. Jean-Baptiste added 12 points, and Drew Baxter chipped in with 10.

Framingham 51, Milton 38: Patrick Miller and Greg Domineau both scored 8 points in the loss.

Hingham 57, Whitman-Hanson 41: Nick Johannes (21 points) and Liam McBride (19 points) starred in the Harbormen (9-2) win. Ryan Vallancourt and Dom Masone both scored 15 points in the loss.

Hull 69, South Shore Tech 30: Danny Punchard scored a game-high 20 points in the win. Gabe Griffin (19 points) and Joe Johnson (12) also played well. Brandon Lafleur (11 points) was the top scorer for the Vikings (2-4).

Pembroke 41, Plymouth South 33: The win puts the Titans (11-0) firmly in first place atop the Patriot League Fisher Division. Brady Spencer (15 points), Tom Considine (13) and Joey Dwyer (9) did most of the scoring.

Marshfield 58, Silver Lake 39: Connor Walden scored 19 points to lead the Rams (7-1, 6-1) to a Patriot League win. Silver Lake was led by Mike O’Brien (15 points) and Luke Lofstrom (12 points).

Newton North 74, Weymouth 48: Cam Nordstrom scored 10 points in the loss.

West Bridgewater 71, Westport 66: The Wildcats won the Mayflower League game.

North Quincy 66, Quincy 33: Daithi Quinn (17 points) and Nikko Mortel (12) led the way for the Raiders. Danny Bellotti and Nate Davis tallied their first varsity points. Jordan Davis led Quincy with 9.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Plymouth 3, Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake 1: Maeve Campbell scored two goals in the win. Shea Kelleher scored the goal for WHSL (5-5).

Dexter Southfield 4, Thayer Academy 3: The Tigers (6-6-1) lost at home.

BOYS HOCKEY

Xaverian 3, Duxbury 2 (OT): Aiden Harrington scored two goals and Sam Mazanec played well in net but the Dragons dropped the overtime heartbreaker.

East Bridgewater/West Bridgewater 6, South Shore Tech 4: WEB picked up the non-league win as Anthony Patete had two goals and two assists. WEB has won four out of its last five. Jeff Young (assist), Kyle McDonald, Christian Bates and Sean Noonan rounded out the scoring.

Canton 6, Attleboro 0: Andrew Valkanas scored two goals and Carson Eagles recorded the shutout in the win. Mike Anderson netted his first varsity goal.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Marshfield 131.7, Hingham 128.6: Freshmen Liv Audette (33.7) and Annie Spencer (33.55) went 1-2 in the all-around to lead the Rams.

Weymouth 128.7, Walpole 126.8: The Wildcats won a Bay State Conference meet. Maggie Lynch won the all-around and every event. Kaitlyn Ridder, Molly Higgins, Nicole LaRosa and Alex Rey also performed well.

Pembroke/Silver Lake 137.75, Scituate 136.45, Whitman-Hanson 118: Ava Dorsey (P/SL), Kenzie McKinaw (P/SL) and Ciara Hughes (Scituate) tied for first on the vault. Lauren Canniff (P/SL) won the beam.
