HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Fanara's all-around game leads Abington boys basketball over Mashpee

Tommy Fanara had 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists Tuesday night to lead the Abington High boys basketball team to a 69-45 win over South Shore League rival Mashpee.

Drew Donovan (14 points), Jeremiah Ismeus (9 points, 10 rebounds) and Connor Pease (8 points, 6 rebounds) also starred for the Green Wave (5-3, 4-1).

Nine different players scored for Abington. Jack Spencer led Mashpee (3-3, 0-3) with 11 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Middleboro 64, Cohasset 58: Gianni Perea had 28 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, and Jacob Briggs added 12 points and 12 rebounds to power the Sachems (8-2, 6-2) to a South Shore League win. Nick Marzelli (8 points, 3 rebounds), Jalen Moore (7 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals) and Cam Downey (7 points, 11 rebounds) also starred.

Randolph 63, Hull 36: Lenny Tangishaka scored 15 points, and Josiah Osuji was strong defensively and on the boards to lead the Blue Devils to a South Shore League win. Gabe Griffin scored 17 points for Hull.

Rockland 56, East Bridgewater 38: Sophomore Darmani Santiago scored 14 points, and senior Conor Leavitt added 12 as the Bulldogs (2-4, 2-1) won a South Shore League game. EB (4-4, 1-4) received 14 points from sophomore Dylan Kaplinger.

North Quincy 66, Plymouth North 46: Sophomore captain Daithi Quinn had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals to lead NQ (5-3, 4-3) to a Patriot League home win. Senior Ethan Gao had 11 points off the bench, and senior captains Colm Geary (10 points) and Nikko Mortel (9 points, 5 assists) also starred. Junior Dylan Clifford added 9 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Ivan Darko led Plymouth North (3-5) with 16 points, and Hunter Byron (11) and JayMori Leonard (10) also contributed.

Whitman-Hanson 69, Plymouth South 60: Seniors Amari Jamison (25 points), Ryan Vallancourt (16 points) and Malcolm Alcorn Crowder (10 points) starred as W-H (6-3, 4-2) handed Patriot League rival South (6-1) its first loss. Junior Liam Davis scored 15 points for South.

Marshfield 60, Hanover 48: Senior Connor Walden had 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rams (6-1, 5-1) to a Patriot League win. Matt Habel added 13 points. Junior forward David Quinlan led Hanover (3-6, 2-6) with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Scituate 69, Duxbury 39: Johnny Kinsley scored 17 points, and Keegan Sullivan added 16 points and 10 assists to lead the Sailors (7-2) to a road win. Sam Benning chipped in with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Alex Barlow scored 18 points for Duxbury.

Pembroke 61, Silver Lake 54: Brady Spencer scored 23 points, and Joseph Dwyer added 23 for the Titans (9-0). Matt Wilmarth led the Lakers with 17 points.

Hingham 68, Quincy 37: Liam McBride scored 20 points and Curtis Murphy (19) and Nick Johannes (14) also starred for the Harbormen (8-2).

Cardinal Spellman 69, Arlington Catholic 66: Kristian Simpson (23 points) hit 11 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to help clinch the Catholic Central League win for the Cardinals (4-5, 4-2). Jaydan Exalus added 17 points, and Luke McSharry (11) and Marvin Petit-Frere (10) also contributed.

Cathedral 71, Archbishop Williams 57: The Bishops (7-3) lost on the road.

Durfee 70, Brockton 57: The Boxers lost to the Hilltoppers (5-1, 2-0 Southeast Conference) on the road.

Canton 68, King Philip 56: Senior Lanse Dorcelus scored 30 points as the Bulldogs (3-5, 3-4) notched a Hockomock League road win. Seniors Dillon Nguyen (14 points) and Nate Mei (10) also contributed.

Taunton 86, Oliver Ames 56: Zach Tagliamonte led OA with 25 points, and Drew Baxter added 11 in the loss.

Attleboro 88, Stoughton 65: The Black Knights lost a Hockomock League game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Whitman-Hanson 54, Plymouth South 36: Lauren Dunn hit five 3-pointers en route to 21 points, and Abby Martin added 8 points and 15 rebounds as the Panthers (10-0, 7-0 Patriot League) clinched a playoff berth. Caitlin Leahy chipped in with 9 points. Sarah Kenney scored 14 points for South in the loss.

North Quincy 59, Plymouth North 39: Sophomore captains Orlagh Gormley (26 points) and Ava Bryan (13 points) led the Raiders (8-0) to a road win. Sophomore center Autumn O’Campus added 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Hingham 63, Quincy 59 (OT): Perry Blasetti scored 20 points, and Ellie Savistcus had 5 steals, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in the extra session for the Harborwomen (8-1, 7-0 Patriot League).

Scituate 55, Duxbury 43: Grace McNamara scored 21 points, and Emilia Rojik added a career-high 19 for the Sailors (6-5). Sarah Fogarty chipped in with 8 points. Molly Donovan led Duxbury (4-4) with 12 points, and Lucy Laviolette added 11. Freshman Schuyler Cerow had a strong all-around game off the bench for the Dragons.

Hanover 54, Marshfield 46: Dani Tilden (14 points), Mary Carven (11 points) and McKalah Gaine (13 points, 10 rebounds) starred for the Hawks in the Patriot League win. Olivia Damon and Mary Kate Flynn (13 rebounds) hit big free throws.

Pembroke 42, Silver Lake 28: Junior captain Deanna Linscott hit 10 of 12 free throws to finish with 15 points as the Titans beat the Lakers in Patriot League action. Senior Emma Ledger and freshman Elli Tam hit key 3-pointers late in the game.

Cohasset 55, Middleboro 38: Sophomores Sarah Chenette (29 points, 19 rebounds) and Laney Larsen (18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) starred for the host Skippers. Senior Mia Froio (5 steals) and sophomore Catherine Toomey (11 rebounds) were defensive standouts. Middleboro was led by Shaunna Gallagher (12 points) and Riley Griffin (10 points).

Avon 46, Atlantis Charter 25: Kylie Mallett scored 18 points, and Hanelie Cadet added 17 for Avon. Dahlia Parent had a strong defensive game.

Archbishop Williams 36, Cathedral 31: Juniors Elise Carter (14 points) and Angie Coletti (5 points, 17 rebounds) led the Bishops (2-7).

Durfee 49, Brockton 35: The Boxers dropped a Southeast Conference game at home.

Canton 56, King Philip 39: Kiara Cerruti scored 21 points, and Samya DaSilva added 16 to power the Bulldogs. Fay Gallery chipped in with 10 points.

Bishop Stang 53, Cardinal Spellman 40: The Cardinals (2-6) lost on the road.

Mashpee 61, Abington 43: The Green Wave lost a South Shore League game.

South Shore Tech 52, Bristol Aggie 22: Ellery Campbell had 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Vikings (6-1, 1-1) to a Mayflower Athletic Conference win. Alex Collins added 13 points, and Mia Bradshaw chipped in with 8.

Attleboro 70, Stoughton 27: Host Stoughton lost on Knights Care Night that supported the Stoughton Food Pantry.

Oliver Ames 86, Taunton 44: Caroline Peper (22 points, 5 assists), Kaydance Derba (19 points) and Jasmyn Cooper (13 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists) all starred as the Tigers (7-1, 6-1) blew open a six-point game at halftime to post a Hockomock League win.

Brookline 71, Weymouth 40: Larissa Gilberto scored 15 points for the Wildcats (5-4) in the loss.

Saint John Paul II 54, Rising Tide Charter 26: Eighth-grader Johnny Tompkins led host Rising Tide (4-1) with 11 points. Classmate Raeghan Blake added 5 points, and senior Jilliam Leanardo had a strong game off the bench.

Hull 64, Randolph 9: The Pirates rolled in the South Shore League battle.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Marshfield 129.9, Plymouth North/South 13.75: Freshman Liv Audette (33.4) and junior Lindsey Lebrun (31.1) finished 2-3 in the all-around as the Rams improved to 5-1.

Scituate wins quad meet: On Saturday, the Sailors scored 129.4 points to beat Hanover (129.1), Hingham (128.9) and Plymouth North/South (118). Plymouth's Brooke Reardon was the all-around champ with a score of 34.7; she won the beam (9.1) and floor exercise (9.0). Hingham's Sienna Besser was second in the all-around (33.45); she won bars (8.3). Scituate's Lilly Wiechert was third in the all-around (32.9). Hanover's Holly Rossi won vault (8.9).

GIRLS SWIMMING/DIVING

Bridgewater/Raynham 105, Durfee 78: Jessie McNeil won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke, both in Div. 1 state-qualifying times, and also swam on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays with Kiley George, Lily Martin and Eva Chaves for the Trojans (3-0). Martin also won the 200 free and 100 butterfly, George captured the 100 backstroke, and B-R won the 400 free relay with the team of Abby Szumita, Samantha Bean, Madison Maltby and Emma Lavigne.

New Bedford 95, Brockton 53: Julia Williams won the 50 free and 100 free for the Boxers in the loss.

Hingham 101, Hanover/Marshfield 80: The Harborwomen posted the win.

BOYS SWIMMING/DIVING

Bridgewater/Raynham 97, Durfee 77: Captain Jack Werb won the 200-yard IM and 100 backstroke for the Trojans (3-0) and also swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays with Cooper Hammond, Cam Hogg and Cole Bridges. Hogg won the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke, and Dan Keefe finished first in diving.

Brockton 97, New Bedford 73: Asher Miller won the 50 free and 100 free, and Antonio Toban took the 100 backstroke and swam on the winning 200 medley relay for the Boxers. Other Brockton winners were Isaac Miller (500 free) and Marcel McLaren (diving).

Hanover/Marshfield 97, Hingham 63: The co-op posted the win.
