HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Eberle leads Lady Indians to eighth title; Central takes third at KIT

Aug. 14—On Monday, Elizabeth Eberle nailed a birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff to claim her first individual championship of the season.

She found herself in a similar situation on Saturday.

The Madison Central senior shot a 72 at the Joy of Golf Tournament, which was held at Wild Turkey Trace in Lawrenceburg. That put her in a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.

This time around, though, Eberle needed only one hole to take the title.

The senior knocked down a 30-foot putt to beat out Jenna Estavella of Whitefield Academy and Isabella Wiley of Shelby County.

Led by Eberle, the Lady Indians rolled to their eighth tournament title of the season — in nine events. Central shot a 304, beating out Owen County by 16 shots.

Franklin County was third and Henry Clay (339) was fourth.

Central's Mollie Neeley shot a 75 and finished sixth. Lydia Harrel finished with a 77. Claira Beth Ramsey shot an 80 and Abi Buchanan fired an 83.

Playing as an individual, Madison Central's MacKenzie Federspiel shot a 76.

Madison Central's B team competed in the Lady Maroons Invitational on Saturday in Somerset.

The event was held at the Eagles Nest Country Club.

The Lady Indians shot a 340 and took second place. Cooper took the title with a 330.

Haley Federspiel finished with a score of 80 and was fifth.

Haley Rice shot an 85. Aubrey Barrow finished with a 86. Amelia Harrel shot an 89 and Kelsee Bacon posted a score of 103.

Central is set to return to action next Saturday at the Lexington Catholic Tournament.

Indians finish sixth at KIT

The Madison Central boys golf team shot a +10, 294, and finished third on Saturday at the Kentucky Invitational Tournament.

The event was held at Harmony Landing in Goshen.

Madison Central's Clay Pendergrass shot a -1, 70, and tied for fifth place. The senior had birdies on No. 1, 2, 4, 9 and 11.

Warren Thomis and Mason Hamrick both shot +2, 73, and tied for 13th. Radney Bales fired a +7, 78, and tied for 44th.

Braydon Bond shot a +9, 80, and tied for 54th.

Trinity took the team title with a total score of +1, 285.

Central is set to return to action Sunday at Gibson Bay in the Indian Invitational.
