High school football roundup: Mahtomedi wraps up No. 1 seed with win over South St. Paul

Oct. 21—Mahtomedi 35, South St. Paul 12: The Zephyrs (6-2) clinched the No. 1 seed in Section 4 after their big win over the Packers (2-6).

The dynamic running back duo of seniors Jordan Hull and Nicholas Beiersdorf fueled the victory. Hull had eight carries for 114 yards and one touchdown, while Beiersdorf added 10 rushes for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Minneapolis North 50, Central 6: The seniors led the Polars (7-1) over Central (4-4), marking the Minutemen's first losing streak this season.

Rio Sanders had two running touchdowns (38 and 8 yards) and two passing touchdowns (89, 19). Jaylon Washington rushed for two touchdowns, while Jahiem Abdullah added a 2-yard rushing touchdown.

East Ridge 32, St. Michael-Albertville 29: In the hunt for the No. 2 seed in Section 4, the Raptors' victory over the Knights (4-4) puts them in a strong position to take that spot.

East Ridge (5-3) trailed 21-19 in the fourth quarter, but senior Toby Anene fueled their comeback as he had rushing touchdowns of 5, 40 and 54 yards.

Irondale 21, Apple Valley 0: The running backs and defense lifted Irondale (4-4) over Apple Valley (1-7).

Junior Thomas Westbrook rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries. Senior Lucas Shaver ran for 88 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries.

Prior Lake 56, Park 21: Senior quarterback Kyle Haas and senior running back Daveon McMillan fueled the Lakers (5-3).

Haas threw touchdown passes of 52, nine and eight yards, while McMillan rushed for two touchdowns.

A bright spot for the Wolfpack (4-4) was senior quarterback Evan Berth. He threw touchdown passes of 65 and 36 yards.

St. Thomas Academy 35, Tartan 10: The Cadets' (8-0) running backs got the job done in their victory over the Titans (1-7).

Junior Love Adebayo ran for a pair of 8-yard touchdowns, while sophomore Savion Hart rushed for touchdowns of 2 and 7 yards.

Providence Academy 13, SMB 7: With a tie score heading into the fourth quarter, the Lions (8-0) secured their victory over SMB (5-3) after senior Jacob Meissner rushed for a 20-yard touchdown.

An 86-yard touchdown pass from senior Charlie Johnson to senior Elijah Wade highlighted the lone touchdown for SMB (5-3).

Simley 28, Two Rivers 3: Junior quarterback Caden Renslow fueled the Spartans (5-3) as he threw two touchdown passes (52 and 30) and had a 1-yard rushing touchdown against the Warriors (0-8).
