High School Boys Tennis Roundup: Yellow Medicine East thumps Redwood Valley

Apr. 17—GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East boys tennis improved to 2-0 with 6-1 victory over Redwood Valley on Friday.

The Sting recorded victories at all four singles spots as well as Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

Jackson Torgerson earned a difficult victory at No. 2 singles for YME, beating Jacob Zollner 7-5, 6-4.

YME has two matches scheduled for Saturday. At 10 a.m., the Sting play Luverne. At 1 p.m., they play Pipestone Area.

Minnewaska swept doubles play, including a marathon win for the No. 2 duo in a victory over Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley at Madison.

The Lakers' No. 2 team of Connor Quelle and Aiden Maanum persevered with a 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (7-1), 12-10 victory against Wyatt Wiebe and Elijah Fjerkenstad. Minnewaska's No. 1 team of Damon Uhde and Logan Maanum, and the No. 3 team of Konner Hanson and Noah Palmer were also victorious.
