High School Baseball Roundup: MACCRAY takes two in doubleheader

Apr. 19—WELCOME — The MACCRAY baseball team picked up a pair of non-conference road wins on Saturday, sweeping a twinbill with Martin County West.

The Wolverines won both games in five innings: 15-0 in Game 1 and 22-1 in Game 2.

In the opener, Brady Kienitz was 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI while Dreyer Homan was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored. Eli DuHoux also had two hits, driving in two runs and scoring once. Brooks Asche was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and one hit allowed over three innings.

Then in the night cap, Asche finished 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Isaac Strommer was 2-for-2 with four runs, two stolen bases and an RBI. Carter Wrede was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. Homan got the win after striking out five in three innings of relief.

MACCRAY is back at Raymond on Monday to play a Camden Conference game against Renville County West.

Led by Aaron Ver Steeg, Minnewaska cruised to a non-conference victory over Redwood Valley Saturday at Glenwood.

On the mound, Ver Steeg got the win after striking out 11 while allowing no runs on two hits and one walk over six innings. On offense, Ver Steeg was 3-for-3 with a triple, four runs scored and a pair of RBIs for the Lakers.

Darion Alexander was 1-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases, and Jacob Blair was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Minnewaska heads to Morris/Chokio-Alberta for a West Central Conference contest on Tuesday.
