MARTINSVILLE INVITATIONAL: Bloomington North won its first two to make the title match, but fell to Indianapolis North Central 23-25, 25-13, 15-13. The Cougars (13-7) dumped Jasper 27-25, 20-25, 15-12 and avenged an earlier loss to the host Artesians, 25-17, 18-25, 15-10. For North, Avery Freeman had seven aces, 48 digs; Leah Brown nine kills, seven digs; Ava Moore five aces, 22 digs, 50 assists; Mia Robbennolt 11 kills; Morgan Barrow 23 kills, 11 digs and Kenli Sullivan 24 kills, 13 digs, five aces.

SOUTHERN ROADS CONFERENCE: Lighthouse Christian picked up its first ever Southern Roads Conference Tournament championship by going 3-0. The Lions (12-8) got off to a rough start but beat Cannelton, 23-25, 25-11, 15-9, then topped Columbus Christian, 25-11, 25-22 and then Christian Academy of Madison, 25-13, 22-25, 15-9.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 5, FLOYD CENTRAL 0: No. 10 Panthers (11-1-2) have no problems with Highlanders (7-3-3) as Nora Doyle gets a pair of goals. Annalise Coyne, Katharine Lacy and Emma Shaw with one each.

Boys' tennis

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 4, EDGEWOOD 1: Panthers get the victory in the meeting of county rivals. In singles play, South's Chris Lian topped Mitch Deckard 6-0, 6-0 and Alex Busch won 6-2, 6-0 over Quinn Norris while Edgewood's Andrew Paul beat Maddox Grass 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3. South swept doubles, with Michael Asplund and Nick Walker topping Zeke and Dane Weisner, 6-1, 6-0 and Luka Jovanovic and Josh Sang 6-0, 6-0 winners over Carter Cheaney and Donnie Chandler.

COLUMBUS NORTH 5, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 0: The No. 6 Bull Dogs claimed another Conference Indiana title, completing the sweep this year with a tough win over the No. 16 Cougars. Both teams came in 4-0 in league play. No. 1 singles player Nick Shirley returned for his first match since getting injured after the North-South match and was ahead, 7-6, 5-3, when he could not continue after more than two hours of play. At 2 singles, Esteban Crespo dropped a 7-6, 6-2 decision while CN swept the doubles, winning 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 over Casey McIntyre and Brady Murphy and 6-0, 6-4 over Connor O’Guinn and Seth Force.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 3, MOORESVILLE 1: The Panthers (10-1-2) peppered the Pioneers' goal all night, but couldn't salt the game away until the final 11 minutes, getting a second goal from Helena Cutshall and one from Valarie Bunde to snap a 1-1 tie. The Mooresville (7-3-1) goal came in the first few minutes, but it didn't produce another shot on goal the rest of the night.

GREENCASTLE 3, EDGEWOOD 0: Mustangs (4-8, 2-5 WIC) suffer shutout as Tiger Cubs move to 7-0 in league play.

Boys' soccer

INDIAN CREEK 1, EDGEWOOD 1: Each team scored a first half goal and regulation ended in a 1-1 tie, but the Braves pulled it out with a 4-3 win on penalty kicks.

Volleyball

CENTER GROVE 3, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 1: Potential sectional foes met with the Trojans (9-11) pulling out a 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23 win over the Panthers (6-11).

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 3, EASTERN GREENE 0: The Cougars cruised, 25-14, 25-18, 25-8. North's Kenli Sullivan had 12 kills against her old teammates while Avery Freeman fired 10 aces in 23 attempts and Mia Robbennolt had five as the Cougars piled up 23. Robbennolt and Leah Brown each had five blocks. Freeman had 13 digs.

EDGEWOOD 3, BLOOMFIELD 0: Mustangs pick up 20th win of the season with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-10 sweep on Edge Out Cancer Pink Out night. Kaiden Harrington had 14 kills after surpassing the 300 mark for the year earlier this week to go with three aces. Ella Hayden had seven kills while Olivia Edgeman have five kills, six digs and three aces and Adia May had 28 assists and Alayna Flynn 10 digs.

Wednesday, Sept. 21

Girls' soccer

BISHOP CHATARD 1, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 0: A second-half goal was all the separation as the 2A No. 4 Trojans (10-1-1) escaped Cougar Soccer Park with a win. Rachel Campbell had 13 saves, but Chatard finds a score in the final minute. Chatard's only loss is to 2A No. 2 Brebeuf Jesuit with wins over 2A Nos. 5 and 6 and 3A No. 15 Westfield.

Boys' tennis

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 3, LOOGOOTEE 2: No. 16 Panthers take down second top-25 team this week, toppling No. 22 Lions. South gave up just five games in sweeping singles while Josh Sang and David Ciucu battled to a 6-4, 5-7, (10-8) loss at 2 doubles. Connor Couch and Luka Jovanovic lost a tough one, 6-4, 6-4, at 1 doubles.

NORTH PUTNAM 4, EDGEWOOD 1: Three second-half goals by Cougars (10-2, 6-0 WIC) put match away. Mustangs (1-11, 1-5) finish regular season at home vs. Indian Creek.

Tuesday, Sept. 20

Boys' cross country

WESTERN INDIANA CONERENCE: It came down to the wire for host Edgewood, which nipped Northview and Indian Creek, 50-54-55 to win the league title. All three teams put their top five in the top 23, but the Mustangs had three in the top 10 and that was the difference. Caleb Webb (17:34.13) and Zane Meyer (17:34.90) crossed 6-7 overall with Josh Kohne 10th (18:08.66). Jackson Klinger was 17th (18:30.94) and Landen Beauchamp 20th (18:43.46). BARR-REEVE INVITATIONAL: Eastern Greene finished sixth (190) with Jasper claiming the title with 24 points. The T-Birds had four grouped up in the top 45 led by Oliver Pate (20:30), Jade Dawes (20:40.3), Maddox Ault (20:47.1) and Roman Valentine (20:55.3). Complete results at: timingmd.net

Girls' cross country

WESTERN INDIANA CONFERENCE: Northview won a fourth title in a row with 33 points to 41 for Indian Creek and 66 for host Edgewood. The Mustangs, missing Clara Crain on a muggy evening and against a strong field at the top, were led by Hannah Crain in eighth (21:15.92). A pack of Edgewood runners finished strong as Riley Haskett (21:58.10), Allison Bland (22:32.65) and Ellie Vagedas (22:34.51) went 10-11-12. BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 3, BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 0: The Panthers had no problems with the Stars, rolling 25-22, 25-14, 25-19.

EASTERN GREENE 3, BLOOMFIELD 0: T-Birds pick up the SWIAC win at home, 25-15, 25-16, 25-12.

GREENCASTLE 8, EDGEWOOD 1: The Tiger Cubs (10-1-1, 6-0) scored four goals in each half of the WIC contest. Seth Kallem led Greencastle with four goals and two assists. Edgewood (1-10, 1-4) has dropped six straight.

Boys' tennis

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 3, CENTER GROVE 2: The No. 16 Panthers swept the singles matches to pull out the upset of the sixth-ranked Trojans. South took the top singles spots as Michael Asplund's opponent retired (4-2, 30-15) in the first set and Chris Lian rolled 6-0, 6-1. Josh Sang and David Ciucu were edged, 6-4, 7-5 at 2 doubles and Evan Kantor and Luka Jovanovic saw their 6-4 first set win reversed by the Trojans' duo, 6-0, 6-1. That left 3 singles and Alex Busch pulled out a dramatic 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory.

Monday, Sept. 19

Boys' soccer

LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 9, EMINENCE 0: Nathanael Huck had 3 goals (for the second match in a row), while Isaiah Hamilton, Noah Bridges, Noah Wickstrom, Carson Jones, Sean Flynn and Cayden Jackson also scored for the Lions (5-2).

Girls' soccer

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 3, COLUMBUS NORTH 0: No. 10 Panthers (9-1-2, 4-0) take care of another Conference Indiana title with shutout of Bull Dogs. Back-to-back CI champs first time in program history. Kiera Richardson, Annalise Coyne and senior Nora Doyle with goals. Carlie Pedersen and Kya Seibert combine in goal.

EDGEWOOD 2, BLOOMFIELD 0: Mustangs (4-7) have won three of their last five.

Boys' tennis

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 5, MARTINSVILLE 0: Cougars roll to 10th win of the season. Seth Force at 1 singles pulled out a 7-5, 6-1 victory, while Esteban Crespo and Paul Macy gave up just one game at 2 and 3 singles. Casey McIntyre and Brady Murphy won 6-2, 6-1 and Connor O'Guinn and Connor Shin sweep at 2 doubles.

Girls' golf

BLOOMINGTON NORTH SECTIONAL: Bloomington North fired a 381 to claim third place and advance to the Franklin Regional. Bloomington South is fourth (393) but Melanie Southern shoots a 76 to advance as an individual. Edgewood (420) is eighth.

WHITE RIVER VALLEY 3, LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 0: The Wolverines pushed by LCA, 25-7, 25-16, 25-16. Victoria Mann had six kills for the Lions (9-7), while Claire Beretta had two aces and 15 assists; Ava Fritz had 17 digs and Jane Holdeman had 13 and Faith Rasmusen 11; Emilee Spurlock had four blocks and Charlotte Wiser had five kills.
