"Hawkeye" Has Some Great (And Super Nerdy Marvel) Details In Episode 4, So Here Are 21 I Noticed

🚨Warning: There are MASSIVE spoilers ahead for Hawkeye Episode 4 on Disney+!🚨

1.First, I know this is going to sound like a wild ~Marvel fan~ detail, but I couldn't help but notice the patterns on the mugs had hexagons on them. So, as the Wanda fan I am, I must point out they match the shape of The Hex from WandaVision.

2.As Eleanor walks Clint out of the apartment, you can spot even more swords in the umbrella holder by the elevator. This is just another nod to Jack’s sword obsession and his comic book counterpart Swordsman.

3.When Eleanor laughs at Jack messing up a quote, he's actually misquoting Forrest Gump's iconic "Life is like a box of chocolates" line from Forrest Gump.

4.When Kate rolls into the apartment and decides to decorate and celebrate the holidays with Clint, it's a perfect nod to Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye Issue #6 from 2012. In the comic, Tony is the one who comes to Clint's apartment to decorate.

5.Some of the holiday movies Kate brings for her and Clint to watch include Elf, Die Hard, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Polar Express, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and The Santa Clause.

I'm glad Kate also agrees that Die Hard is totally a Christmas movie.

6.Just like in Episode 1, you can see that Clint is drinking out of a "Thanos Was Right" mug throughout the episode, which is apparently a popular phrase in this post-Blip world.

Moira clearly thinks Thanos was right, considering it's her apartment they're staying in.

7.When Kate draws with permanent marker, it's on a poster for another Moira Brandon movie called A Chance of Love. Also, you'll notice one of the names on the poster is Shawn Bronson, who is an art director on Hawkeye.

In Episode 1, we saw a poster for a different Moira movie. In the comics, Moira is an actor who ends up giving her massive estate to Clint and the West Coast Avengers.

8.And you can also see that Kate drew a pair of goofy glasses on Moira's head on the poster.

9.Clint showing off his amazing marksman skills is a great nod to his comic book abilities. In the comics, it's often talked about how Clint has near-perfect precision and can throw objects with amazing accuracy.

10.Kate mentions to Clint that a boomerang trick arrow would be really cool to have. In the Fraction and Aja Hawkeye comics, the duo uses them a lot, but Kate is the one who thinks they aren't necessary.

In Hawkeye Issue #3, Kate jokes,

11.There are just some comic book Easter eggs I get stupidly giddy about, and Kate's shirt is one of them. Just like in this episode, in the comics Kate can be seen wearing the Laika the space dog shirt.

12.The police officer and LARPer that retrieves Clint's (and Kate's) trick arrows is named Wendy Conrad. In the comics, Wendy goes by Bombshell, which is what is written on her bag in this episode.

In the comic books, Wendy is a mercenary who loves to use explosives. She first appeared in Hawkeye Issue #3 from 1983.

13.And we learn that one of the other LARPers is named Orval, and I'm assuming that's a nod to Orville Bock, who is Oddball in the comics.

In the comic books, Oddball and Bombshell are often paired together too.

14.OK, OK, I'm going to try and remain calm. Clint tells Kate that the stolen watch is attached to someone's secret identity, and I'd like to float the theory that it's Laura Barton's.

In the comics, Clint's main love interest is Mockingbird, aka Bobbi Morse. While that character was already introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.LD., the MCU could be making Mockingbird an organization within S.H.I.E.L.D — think the Widows — and Laura could be a retired agent. That would explain her use of several languages and ability to be able to track things down for Clint. Listen, I've been saying for years we are underutilizing Linda Cardellini, so this is the time. This could be a totally unhinged theory, but I had to write it down just in case.

15.I'm sorry for the yelling from here on out, but we officially find out that masked assailant fighting Clint is Yelena Belova. The mask she wears on the roof is actually a nod to her comic book costume, which features similar stealth gear.

16.During the fight on the roof with Clint and Kate, you can see Yelena do Natasha's fighting pose, which she hilariously made fun of in Black Widow.

17.When Kate falls off the roof, the moment is a (heartbreaking) parallel to Clint and Natasha on Vormir from Avengers: Endgame.

18.In fact, the rope device Yelena tethers to Kate before she falls off the building is the same one Natasha used to save Clint's life on Vormir during Avengers: Endgame.

19.You can see that Yelena is now wearing her hair in a braid that resembles Natasha's hair, instead of the hairstyle Yelena had in Black Widow.

20.I would also like to take the time to point out that Yelena is once again wearing a vest, which we know is a piece of clothing she loves thanks to Black Widow.

I need to know where the OG vest ended up after Nat died, please and thank you.

21.And finally, when Kate decides to not shoot Yelena, it mirrors when Clint and Natasha first met. Earlier in the episode Clint told Kate he didn't shoot Nat because, "I just had this feeling that she wanted out."

The scene also uses the Yelena Belova score from Black Widow.
