EAST BRIDGEWATER — Locals might know the East Bridgewater antique shop Mrs. Swift's and Moore's as a local haunt ... literally. But soon, the nation will know about its fun-loving spirits.

The shop will be featured on the first episode of season six of "Kindred Spirits" on the Travel Channel on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 10 p.m.

The show stars paranormal investigators Adam Berry and Amy Bruni who were previously on "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Hunters Academy." They also now work with medium Chip Coffey on the show.

Together, the three of them investigate homes, businesses and other buildings for ghosts using the traditional equipment like spirit boxes and electronic voice phenomenon recorders.

Lorrie Parker, the owner of Mrs. Swift's and Moore's Antique Shop, said the show contacted her about investigating the shop at the end of the summer of 2020. She said she sent the show Massachusetts Area Paranormal Society member Wayne Nye's book on the history of the shop, which details its history as a former masonic temple and a funeral home, and the show was impressed.

"We really wanted the story of my shop, the history of the shop and the old Masonic building to be shared with people," Parker said.

After a lot of preparation and getting permission from her landlord, Parker said Berry and Bruni came to the building with a team of nine people to film. She said they investigated for three days and three nights, covering every inch of the building.

Parker was there for some of the filming and said she saw her infamous haunted toy radio play two full songs in front of one of the cameramen.

"It was quite impressive because they have it down. They're professionals. They know what they're doing," she said.

After the team finished filming, they tried to show Parker what they found, Parker said, but they had a computer malfunction and couldn't show her the footage. She said they told her they got a lot of good material though.

Though she couldn't see the footage, Parker said she hopes the show portrays the shop for the playful spirit home that it is instead of a place with evil energy.

"If there was something really negative, there's no way I would stay there for 13 years," she said.

But based on the press release for the episode, the show may be portraying the building in a scarier light.

The description for the episode reads:

"In the season premiere, 'The Undertaker’s Secret,' the team travels to East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, to investigate a haunted building that terrorizes anyone who enters. In 1892, this building was home to one of America’s largest secret societies, the Freemasons...The Freemasons were famous for their ritualistic obsession with death and the afterlife, and it’s possible that their sinister intentions are still lingering."

But no matter how the shop is portrayed, locals will want to tune in to see a local landmark on national TV.
