Harry Styles Endorses Beto O'Rourke at Austin Concert
Fans erupted in applause when Harry Styles appeared to endorse Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke at his show in Austin, Texas, on October 2, video shows.
Footage taken by Chana Niedrauer shows the singer flaunt a ‘Beto for Texas’ sticker on his guitar, as seen in a close-up magnified on the arena’s big screen. Cameras then showed O’Rourke standing in the audience clapping and waving.
Speaking to Storyful, Niedrauer said that the show of political support was extremely meaningful, as she’s been a huge Styles fan since his One Direction days.
“Being a woman over the last year or so in Texas has been terrifying, so having someone I look up to so much acknowledge what we’re going through and drawing attention to the fight to gain our rights back is so incredibly important,” she said. Credit: Chana Niedrauer via Storyful
