Harford Community College board elects new chair and vice chair

Jul. 5—Richard P. Streett III and Brian Walker have been elected as chair and vice chair of the Harford Community College Board of Trustees for 2022-2023. The board of trustees nominates and elects the chair and vice chair positions.

"I am excited to work with Dr. Streett as the new chair of the board of trustees," said Theresa Felder, president of HCC. "Dr. Streett has served on the board for seven years and has been vice chair of the board for the past two years. He has a strong and inclusive style that will make for a seamless transition from the outstanding leadership Trustee Henninger provided for the past two years."

Streett was appointed vice chair to the board in 2015. He is the managing partner for Churchville, Greenbrier and Swan Creek Veterinary Clinics.

Streett coordinates the day-to-day operations of the three veterinary offices located in Harford County and oversees more than 50 staff members and associate veterinarians. He provides strategic and fiscal management for the corporation, establishes marketing initiatives, and provides inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical care.

Before joining the Churchville Veterinary Clinic, Streett worked as an associate veterinarian at the Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital. He earned a bachelor's degree in environmental resource management from Penn State in 1996 and a doctorate degree of veterinary medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Blacksburg, Va.) in May 2000.

Streett is a past president and current board member of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association. He currently serves on the Maryland Veterinary Foundation board and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Streett also serves as co-chair of the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health NextGen Leadership Council.

Brian Walker, a Joppa native, joined HCC's board in 2018 and has over 30 years of business experience in sales, sales management and marketing consulting. He has worked primarily in the digital health care industry where a number of companies have successfully gone public or been acquired under his guidance.

"Trustee Walker has been actively involved in the board's Finance & Audit Committee for the past several years and now, as a part of his responsibilities as vice chair, will chair that committee," said Kurt Doan, executive assistant for Felder and the board of trustees.

Walker attended Essex Community College and later earned his bachelor's in business administration from Towson University. He is also a 2010 graduate of the Harvard Business School's Accelerated Leadership Development Program. In addition to his position on the Harford Community College Board of Trustees, Walker is active with local charities like the Harford Family House and the Sharing Table.
