Harbinger Coffee moving to new Old Town Fort Collins location

After brewing along Mason Street for six years, Harbinger Coffee is preparing to leave its first brick-and-mortar location in Fort Collins.

The artisan coffee shop and coffee roaster will leave 505 S. Mason St. in favor of a new location in Old Town early next year, according to founder Jonathan Jarrow.

Its new spot, 236 S. College Ave., is near the northeast corner of College Avenue and Olive Street and was previously home to a cellphone repair shop.

Harbinger Coffee opened in 2012 in a kiosk under what is now Fort Collins' Bar District just north of Old Town's Oak Street Plaza. In 2015, Jarrow opened Harbinger Coffee's first brick-and-mortar location in the first-floor retail space of the Max Flats apartment complex. Nearly three years later, it also added a second location in Harmony Commons near the corner of Harmony Road and Lady Moon Drive.

After putting down roots in Old Town, Harbinger Coffee's Mason Street lease is now coming to an end, leading Jarrow to seek out a new location with more parking options and foot traffic, he said.

Harbinger Coffee is set to open in its new College Avenue spot in March. Its Mason Street location will close no later than March 31, according to Jarrow.

"We're just really excited to be a little closer to downtown and we really look forward to be about to continue our business," Jarrow said. "We're thrilled to have the community support we've had over the last decade."
