Hanover Borough Manager Nan Dunford receives Appointed Official of the Year Award

Hanover Borough Manager Nan Dunford has been awarded the Appointed Official of the Year Award by the York County Economic Alliance at the 2021 Spirit of YoCo Awards ceremony.

Hosted by the YCEA, the annual awards ceremony recognizes volunteers, elected and appointed officials, and local organizations and individuals who drive York County's economic prosperity in York County.

Dunford has served as the Hanover Borough Manager for the last two years, starting in November 2019.

Dunford was recognized for her work with the borough council and efforts to advance Hanover’s momentum in downtown redevelopment, business attraction and tourism development.

“I am fortunate to lead a committed team of public servants who are making Hanover a great place to live, work, and play — and these efforts are leading to renewed focus, awareness, and excitement about Hanover.”

Born and raised in Reading, Pa., Dunford was elected to the Reading City Council in 1994, where she directed the Department of Streets and Public Improvements.

Prior to coming to Hanover, she spent the early part of her career leading nonprofit organizations, including the Crime Victims Center of Berks County.

For the last 15 years, Dunford has served as a municipal manager in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts communities.

Within the last two years, Dunford has worked to improve infrastructure and economic investments by hiring the borough’s first Director of Planning & Engineering, a key position.

She has also worked with the Council to establish the Hanover Economic Development Corporation, which collaborates with the YCEA to attract new funding sources for Hanover community economic priorities.
