Halftime: Ole Miss leads Vols, 24-12
Playing in a much anticipated game, Tennessee finds itself trailing Ole Miss 24-12 at halftime.
After falling behind early as the Rebels took a 7-0 lead on Jarod Connor’s 1-yard touchdown plunge that was set up by a Velus Jones Jr. fumble, UT’s defense came up with a safety when Rebels’ quarterback Matt Corral was called for intentional grounding in the end zone with 4 minutes, 35 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
On their ensuing offensive possession, the Vols took the lead when Hendon Hooker connected with Cedric Tillman on a 16-yard touchdown pass. Chase McGrath added the extra point to extend UT’a advantage to 9-7 with 3:51 left in the opening frame.
From there, however, the Rebels took control of the contest as they scored the next 17 points as Connor had another 1-yard run, Caden Csota kicked a field goal and Corral connected with Dennis Jackson on a 33-yard scoring strike to make it 24-9.
The Vols pulled to with 24-12 when McGrath kicked a 39-yard field goal on the final play of the second stanza.
Tennessee gets the ball to start the second half.
