HALFTIME: Alabama’s strength tails off, Florida still trails. What needs to change?

The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide started off looking unstoppable against the Florida Gators. After scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter, Nick Saban’s team has significantly slowed down. Entering the second half, the Gators still trail with a score of 21-9.

Bryce Young’s stats look amazing, especially when you consider they all come from one quarter of play. Unfortunately, we must remember that he also played in the second quarter. So far, he’s tallied 13 completions on 21 attempts for 145 yards and three touchdowns.

The passes have been evenly distributed among the team. Ironically, not a single receiving touchdown was caught by a wide receiver (Jase McClellan, Jahleel Billingsley, Brian Robinson).

Alabama’s defense did not look all too strong to begin the game, as the Gators were able to go the length of the field, but was stopped at the goal line and had to settle for a field goal.

Florida quarterback Emory Jones threw for 98 yards and an interception on nine completions from 16 attempts.

The run game from Florida has proven effective, with just over 100 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Alabama will have to come out with more energy in the second half and not be complacent based on their first quarter performance. Half the game remains and Florida could easily take advantage of that.
