H.S. Roundup: Lancaster boys top Groveport on a late 3-point shot

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lancaster 44, Groveport 41: Sophomore Tyler Carpenter hit a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds remaining to win it for the Golden Gales in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division action against the host Cruisers.

Carpenter led Lancaster (10-7) with 11 points, Hayden Allen finished with 10 and Colton Bruny added eight points.

Liberty Union 40, Logan Elm 34: The Lions improved to 8-8 on the season after their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Braves.

Sophomore Noah Shook led the way with 22 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Millersport 48, Grove City Christian 35: The Lakers pulled out a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Eagles.

Jordan Ross led the Lakers with 18 points, while Trey Johnston and Mikey Smith chipped in eight points each.

Zanesville Rosecrans 52, Fairfield Christian Academy 43: The Knights fell short in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division loss against the Bishops.

Fisher Catholic 57, Madison Christian 52: Led by Peyton Owens’ 23 points, the Irish pulled out a non-conference win.

Hyde O’Rielley added 17 points and Grant Keefer chipped in nine.

Circleville 67, Amanda-Clearcreek 52: The visiting Aces fell short in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division loss against the host Tigers.

Tucker Shamblin led the Aces with 24 points and Maddox Cupp added seven.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bloom-Carroll 64, Logan Elm 43: The Bulldogs cruised in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the Braves, and in the process, put themselves in a position to win a share of the league title.

Marissa Wilkinson connected on five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs and Emily Bratton added 19 points.

Bloom-Carroll and Teays Valley are both 10-3 in the league with one game remaining. The Bulldogs will travel to Fairfield Union on Friday.

Liberty Union 65, Hamilton Township 37: On Senior Night, Abbie Riddle scored 23 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had six assists to help lead the Lions to a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Rangers.

Berne Union 53, Grove City Christian 13: The Lady Rockets jumped out to a 26-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Eagles.

Berne Union improved to 19-0 on the season and was led by Sophia Kline’s 14 points and Baylee Mirgon finished with 13.

HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS

Lancaster H.S. to hold tennis meeting: There will be a boys’ tennis organizational meeting for any returning players or for those interested in playing for the Golden Gales high school tennis team this spring. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9, in Room 209 at Lancaster High School
