BASEBALL

Unioto 12, Hillsboro 2: On Wednesday, the Sherman Tanks put on a show during their sectional finals win over Hillsboro.

Isaiah Leeth had a strong showing at the mound, where he pitched a complete game where he allowed one earned run and struck out nine batters.

He also hit 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Andrew Griffin was another good hitter, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

They will travel to Ohio University to face Sheridan in the Division II district semifinals on May 23.

Symmes Valley 7, Paint Valley 1: After the Bearcats' loss to the Vikings in the Division IV sectional finals, their season has come to an end.

Gavin Kingery batted in the team's lone run which was scored by Dax Estep.

Wellston 3, Piketon 2: After a tough loss to Golden Rockets in the Division III sectional finals, the Redstreaks' season ended in a hard-fought fashion.

Tra Swayne led the team with two hits in his final game with the team, where he also had an RBI and scored a run.

Fellow senior, Johnny Burton also had a hit and a run scored.

Meigs 3, Adena 0: After a strong defensive effort from the Marauders in the Division III sectional finals, the Warriors were unable to keep their season alive.

Blane Bowdle led the team with two hits in as many at-bats.

Minford 12, Southeastern 2: After a back and forth game through the first three innings, the Falcons managed to pull away late to end the Panthers' season.

Tyler Brown led the team with three hits in as many at-bats. He also had an RBI and scored a run.

Jarrett McWhorter finished the game with two hits and also had an RBI.

SOFTBALL

Portsmouth 9, Zane Trace 3: After three uncharacteristic errors by the Lady Pioneers led to five runs by the Lady Trojans, it was tough for the former to claw back into the Division III district semifinals game.

Alayna Butler led the team with a 2-for-3 night where she hit two doubles and scored a run.

Gracey McCullough also scored a run and an RBI on a 1-for-4 night.
