Gwen Stefani struggles with ‘Voice’ Knockouts decision: ‘I'm gonna look like the big idiot’

Gwen Stefani had a tough decision to make when choosing who to eliminate from her team during Monday’s Knockout Rounds of “The Voice.” Especially after 14 year old Carter Rubin left everyone with goosebumps with his performance of “You Say,” and Chloé Hogan melted the audience with her strong rendition of “Weak.”

Stefani was not sure how to proceed, and even turned to the other coaches for advice. “What am I gonna do?” she asked. “There's no way. I give up.”

While she was leaning toward selecting Rubin, she admitted to Hogan, “If I don't pick you, you're going to become this huge star and I'm gonna look like the big idiot on 'The Voice' that, like, didn't pick you, and then John Legend takes you to fame."

Ultimately Stefani chose Rubin, but just as she predicted John Legend slammed that steal button and swooped up Hogan for his own team.

JOHN LEGEND: I don't know. I don't know.

BLAKE SHELTON: You're gonna screw up. There's no way.

GWEN STEFANI: I give up. I don't know what to do.

KYLIE MAR: Team Gwen's Chloe Hogan made the decision even harder when she melted the audience with a strong performance of "Weak."

CHLOE HOGAN: (SINGING) Your loving makes me weak. I can't explain why your love--

GWEN STEFANI: Oh my God!

CHLOE HOGAN: --it makes me weak.

[CROWD CHEERING]

GWEN STEFANI: What the hell?

KYLIE MAR: The fans weren't the only ones who wanted to keep both singers, as Gwen grappled mightily with the decision.

GWEN STEFANI: Chloe, I feel like I'm in that kind of space where I'm gonna be like, if I don't pick you, you're gonna become this huge star and I'm gonna look like the big idiot on "The Voice" that, like, didn't pick you, and then John Legend takes you to fame.

JOHN LEGEND: [LAUGHING]

KYLIE MAR: Ultimately, Gwen chose Carter. But, just as she predicted, John Legend slammed his steal button and swooped up Chloe for his own team.

GWEN STEFANI: I already hate you. I'm so jealous right now. Hey, you listen to me.

CHLOE HOGAN: Yes, ma'am.

GWEN STEFANI: I'm not abandoning you. I had to pick somebody. You know what I'm saying?

CHLOE HOGAN: I love you. It's OK.
