'Grey's Anatomy' Actress Reveals Special Meaning Behind Costume Prop
See the sentimental item that honors the legacy of a former doctor at Grey Sloan Memorial.
Kendal Chandler, an actress who plays an intern on the newest season of Grey's Anatomy, just revealed that a piece of her costume actually carries very significant meaning to fans of the long-running medical drama.
In a clip shared to TikTok, Chandler showed fans that the stethoscope she received as part of her costume for the season once belonged to a famous actor who previously played one of the show's most prominent doctors.
In the video, Chandler shows that her prop used to belong to none other than Dr. Calliope "Callie" Torres, a fan-favorite orthopedic surgeon played by Sara Ramirez on the ABC series.
"When I got my stethoscope for the season, I thought that it looked familiar," Chandler wrote in an overlay of text on her video, which shows her holding the sentimental item. "Then I was able to make out the faded letters that read: Calliope Torres, MD 🥹"
Ramirez appeared as Callie on the show from 2006 to 2016 before their character was written off following Ramirez's decision to take a break from acting.
The hand-me-down stethoscope prop was especially meaningful for Chandler, who was a die-hard fan of the show before she was cast in the small role she plays in Season 19.

"As a long time greys fan [sic] before being on the show, it's so special getting to use her old stethoscope all season 🥹" Chandler captioned the TikTok video, which was set to the tune of the show's famous theme song.
Chandler often posts other Grey's-related comment on her social media pages, including a clip of one of her scenes where she is seen in the background of the intern locker room.
While she is not one of the main set of new interns—played instead by Niko Terho, Midori Francis, Adelaide Kane, Alexis Floyd, and Harry Shum Jr.—Chandler's character "pop[s] up throughout the season" as one of the background intern doctors.
"There's a few of us who pop up along the way with the main five," she previously explained to one of her commenters on TikTok.
Chandler has also shared videos of behind-the-scenes info about Grey's, including tours of the set and frequently asked questions, which you can explore on her TikTok page.
