'The Greens at Irem Clubhouse grand opening set for Thursday

Oct. 4—DALLAS — Rob Friedman's newest restaurant, The Greens at Irem Clubhouse, will hold a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony Thursday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m.

Friedman announced the new endeavor in August when he struck reached an agreement with the Masonic Villages to lease the clubhouse within the Irem Country Club on Ridgeway Drive.

When he announced the deal, Friedman said in a Times Leader story that he would be leasing the clubhouse, which includes the restaurants, the bar, outside patio area, the halfway house, the ballroom, and the kitchen.

Friedman said the agreement was effective Oct. 1, and the clubhouse has been renamed "The Greens at the Irem Country Club." Many of the staff members currently employed under that umbrella have been retained as employees of the Friedman Hospitality Group.

"We're excited to work with the Masonic Villages and also excited to work with the Irem Shriners who run the golf course and the pavilion there," Friedman said when he announced his latest restaurant in August. "We're hoping to work closely with them to make the whole Irem Country Club area more exciting."

Friedman said opening up the halfway house, utilizing the patio, and working with the golf club will also be exciting for tournaments and parties that they have.

"It's definitely working with the Masonic Villages and the Irem Shriners and the golf club to make the whole thing a successful venture," he said.

Friedman said the clubhouse is open to the public. He said the restaurant will be open 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays. A brunch will be offered on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friedman also owns the Beaumont Inn, Dallas; Bank & Vine, Wilkes-Barre; Kevin's, Kingston; Fire & Ice, Trucksville; Rikasa, Pittston; Grico's Exeter; Cork, Wilkes-Barre; and Grico's South in Nanticoke.
