LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Greater Lafayette Commerce launches Greater Lafayette Restaurant Week Friday where participating local restaurants will offer limited-time menu items and deals for a wide range of tastes and budgets.

Restaurant Week was started in New York in 1992, but now takes place nationwide. These 10 days of dining deals are meant to increase visibility and customer traffic to local businesses, according to a release from Greater Lafayette Commerce.

“It is more important than ever to support and celebrate our local restaurants. It may be a slower time for their businesses right now and our goal is to fill their establishments with diners,” West Lafayette mayor John Dennis said in the release. “Let us use this time to honor and recognize eateries that make our community unique.”

Participating eateries range widely from fine and casual dining to bakeries, candy and ice cream shops, coffee shops and wineries and breweries. “During the past couple of years, our restaurant industry has been hit hard with the pandemic,” Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski said in the release. “However, they have persevered and adapted with innovative ideas to provide continuous service in our community. Restaurant Week is an important time to show your support and gratitude to these local businesses. I encourage you to eat, drink, and explore for a unique dining experience right here in Greater Lafayette.”

To further share the community GLRW experience, Commerce is encouraging diners to share photos and their GLRW stories with the hashtags #GLRestaurantWeek, #Eatlocal #EatDrinkExplore and #GLRW.

“Greater Lafayette Restaurant Week is an opportunity to expand brand awareness for businesses in our community. We are excited for the chance to welcome and impress new customers, so they return long after the event ends,” Jonathan and Debbie McGregor, owners of Sweet Revolution and Revolution Barbeque, said in the release. “We love being a part of this community and bringing a revolution of food for everyone to enjoy.”
