Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls sets target opening day

Great Bear Ski Valley is set to open in just a few weeks. Dec. 22 is the target opening day for the ski valley and snowboarding resort in Sioux Falls, weather dependent.

Employees at Great Bear have already begun manufacturing snow, and with the city’s first real snowfall of the season having come this week and temperatures below freezing at night, things are in great shape, Great Bear communications director Alexa Jerstad said.

“We’ve got a really good crew in partnership with the Parks and Rec Department who make sure that everything is up running and ready for the season,” she said. “We were able to start making snow unusually early, so we’re excited.”
