Jul. 5—FINDLEY TOWNSHIP — The 56th Mercer County Grange Fair kicks off this week with rides, food, animals, exhibits and more.
The fair runs Wednesday through Saturday at the fairgrounds at 35 Grange Fair Drive in Findley Township, a mile east of Mercer. The fair is observing the theme of "Pennsylvania Fairs Working Together to Keep the Tradition Alive."
Admission is free. Donations will be accepted for parking, with proceeds going to the Mercer Baptist Church youth.
Rides open at 5 p.m. each day. In the kitchen building, meals are served through Saturday: breakfast is 8 to 10 a.m.; lunch is 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and dinner is 3:30 to 8 p.m.
Also, there is live entertainment at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday in the commercial exhibit building, and a horse show at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The schedule includes:
—9 a.m. — Youth rabbit show followed by open rabbit show.
—9 a.m. — Mini horse, mini mule and mini donkey show plus goat show.
—7 p.m. — Family games at the track.
Thursday, July 7
—9 a.m. — Dairy cattle show, followed by beef cattle show.
—6 p.m. — Pet parade.
—7 p.m. — Garden tractor pull.
Friday, July 8
—9 a.m. — Sheep show followed by the swine show.
—7 p.m. — Mini rods at the track.
Saturday, July 9
—7 p.m. — Demolition derby at the grandstand.
—Dusk — Fireworks.
For grandstand events, kids 6 and under are free.
