Grand Forks Public Health offering monkeypox vaccine

Aug. 9—GRAND FORKS — The JYNNEOS vaccine is being offered by Grand Forks Public Health for the prevention of the monkeypox virus.

There is currently a limited supply of the JYNNEOS vaccine in the U.S., though more is expected in the coming weeks and months. Because of limited qualities GFPH is following Enhanced Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP++) guidelines to identify populations with the highest risk of infection.

According to a news release from GFPH, PEP++ criteria is as follows:

People eligible for the monkeypox vaccine include individuals in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with monkeypox and people who identify as gay or bisexual, cisgender men who have sex with men, or those persons who identify as transgender may also be eligible if they meet one of the following criteria:

* Have had multiple sexual partners in the last 14 days

* Attended venues or events where monkeypox spread has been identified

* Have had a sexually transmitted infection in the past year
