Gordon Ramsay says he “fainted like an idiot” when his fifth child was born.

The celebrity chef and his wife Tana welcomed their son Oscar in April.

And the tough-talking cook confessed that it was all a bit much for him and he keeled over after the baby arrived.

He told The Jonathan Ross Show that it was the first time he had been present as one of his children was born, as Tana had not wanted him to be there before.

“This time around, I was there and I absolutely cr***** my pants,” he said.

“I fainted. I literally dropped on the floor.”

He went on: “I was sat there and Oscar popped out through the sunroof and then they sort of throw you on him and he's screaming and I fell back, the nurse grabbed me.”

Ramsay, 52, said he had put on some Ed Sheeran music during the birth to “calm everybody”, before passing out himself.

“I put Ed on then I blacked out, I fainted like an idiot,” he said.

“Have you ever been in the (operating) theatre when there is so much commotion, so much going on?

“And then bang.”

The star insisted that was the “first time” it had ever happened to him, saying: “I’ve never fainted in my life.”

Ramsay and his wife Tana got married in 1996 and they have four other children together – Megan, 21, Matilda, 17, and 19-year-old twins Jack and Holly.
