Good Samaritans Flip Vehicle and Rescue Driver After Rollover Crash in San Antonio

A group of strangers banded together to rescue a man from a flipped vehicle after he veered off the road in San Antonio, Texas, on Monday, August 15.

This video was recorded by military veteran John Escobedo who was on his way to a doctor’s appointment for a broken hand when he witnessed the single-vehicle accident.

“I saw the car swerve off the road in the distance and it took me a second to realise that I just witnessed an accident,” Escobedo told Storyful.

“I pulled over and ran to the vehicle and knocked on the window and heard a male voice murmur back to me – I immediately started waving down passing cars screaming, ‘I need help!’”.

Escobedo told Storyful that his training as an incident scene coordinator with defence organisation Lockheed Martin came into action and he started directing the group to flip the vehicle back over.

“I could tell it wasn’t smoke coming from the vehicle, it was steam from the radiator,” he said.

“Everyone came together in a matter of seconds in a rescue effort, all differences were put aside to save a life.”

Escobedo said once the vehicle was upright the man was conscious and informed the group that his neck and ribs were injured. The group left the man in the driver’s seat until the ambulance arrived several minutes later. Escobedo said he is in contact with a family member of the man, who informed him that he is recovering in hospital.
