Ponce de Leon NSDAR awards

Ponce de Leon NSDAR awarded Good Citizens Awards on Jan. 8 to: Joshua Johnson of Winter Haven High School, Ethan Eschrick of All Saints Academy, Emily Tomlin of Winter Haven Christian School and Andrea Villanueva-Chavez of Lake Region High School. Johnson attended the meeting. The American History Essay winners were: Delilah Garcia-Gutierrez, fifth grade, Eastside Elementary; Makaylee Roggen, ninth grade, All Saints Academy; Matthew Moskal, 10th grade, All Saints Academy; and Hannah Bustamante, 11th grade, Winter Haven Christian School. A participation award was presented to Taylor Warren, fifth grade, Winter Haven Christian School. Students read their essays at the meeting. The Good Citizens and the American History Essay Winners also received a monetary award. Member Candy L. Clark presented each DAR member with an autographed copy of her book “Storm of Tyranny.” The next meeting is Feb. 12 at Beef 'O' Brady’s, 300 Cypress Gardens Blvd,, Winter Haven.
