Good Doctor Finale Promo: Will Shaun and Lea's Wedding End in Tragedy?

Should we be worried about Dr. Aaron Glassman?

The Good Doctor on Monday, May 16 (ABC, 10/9c) will close out Season 5 with the long-awaited wedding of Dr. Shaun Murphy and St. Bonaventure IT specialist Lea Dilallo — for real this time. Really. We mean it.

But a promo that ran following the penultimate episode raises a red flag, as St. Bons’ chief of surgery Dr. Audrey Lim calls for a crash cart. Who’s it for?

The preceding moments signal that Glassman is in an especially reflective mood at Shaun and Lea’s reception — as if all is going a bit too well before Lim signals a code blue. And this wouldn’t be the first time that a Good Doctor finale sees Richard Schiff’s alter ego suffer such a scare.

Of course, the finale teaser may very well be throwing us off the scent. Lest we forget, it was just last week that the medical drama suddenly gave Nurse Villanueva, who since Season 1 has been portrayed by Elfina Luk, a storyline of her own: She revealed to Lim that her boyfriend Owen has been abusing her, and in the following episode, Lim offered the domestic violence victim a place to stay. Could Owen turn up at the reception looking for his girlfriend?

In the season ender, titled “Sons,” Shaun and Lea “make a big life decision and are pleasantly surprised by the support they receive from their friends at the hospital,” according to the official synopsis. “Meanwhile, when Dr. Wolke’s parents show up with a revelation, Asher struggles to accept that he and his father may never truly understand one another.”

As previously reported, The Good Doctor has been renewed for Season 6, which will add two new recurring cast members: Brandon Larracuente (of Freeform’s Party of Five reboot) and Savannah Welch (aka Titans‘ Barbara Gordon) as interns Danny and… Danni. What’s more, because the series will air just 18 out of its 20 episodes initially ordered for Season 5, the remaining two hours are being held for Season 6. As such, Season 6 will consist of a full 22 episodes, marking The Good Doctor‘s longest season yet.
