Golf: Great Plains' Hansen, Clark-Willow Lake's Roehrich top field in Pre-Region 1B-ECC tourneys

Sam Hansen of Great Plains Lutheran and Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake captured medalist honors and four teams earned titles Monday in the Pre-Region 1B/Eastern Coteau Conference golf tournament at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

The tourney is a tune-up for the Region 1B tourney that is scheduled for Monday, May 23 at CCGC. For the first time this year, it also served as the first ECC tourney with scores from the pre-region used to determine conference honors.

That's why Hansen, who shot a 2-under 70, and Roehrich, who fired a 95, were individual champions in both tourneys.

Hamlin's boys and Castlewood's girls won team titles in the pre-region tourney. Hamlin shot 253 and won seven shows over Great Plains. Castlewood shot 303 and won by nine shots over Deuel.

Carson Pedersen (83) and Jackson Wadsworth (84) finished second and third, respectively, to lead Hamlin's boys. Blaze Amdahl of Webster Area (85) and Brandon Fieber of Deuel (86) rounded out the top 5.

Maddie Horn (98) took second and Olivia Karst (100) third for Castlewood's girls. Deuel golfers Annika Kriz and Darby Koenecke were fourth and fifth, respectively, with 100s.

ECC team titles went to Deuel's girls and Great Plains Lutheran's boys.

SF Washington Warrior Invite

SIOUX FALLS — Three Watertown High School girls golfers competed Monday in the Sioux Falls Washington Warrior Invite at the Elmwood Golf Course.

Mitchell topped a field of nine teams, shooting 330 for a four-shot victory over Sioux Falls O'Gorman. Rapid City Stevens finished third at 336.

Claire Young of Sioux Falls Lincoln and Tanna Phares of Rapid City Stevens each shot 2-over 74s to share medalist honors. Lauren Sutcliffe of Sioux Falls O'Gorman and Taylor Wit of Rapid City Stevens tied for third with 75s.

Riley Zebroski led the Watertown trio, firing an 83 (43-40) to place 11th. Shelby Pearson tied for 14th with an 86 (43-43) and Samantha Anderson took 21st with a 93 (46-47).

Sioux Valley Invite

VOLGA ­— Sioux Valley and Deubrook Area won girls division team titles and De Smet shared the boys division championship Monday in the Sioux Valley Inviational at the Meadow Creek Golf Course.

Sioux Valley won the Class A girls division with a 388 score and Deubrook Area the Class B girls division with a 273. De Smet, Colman-Egan and Chester Area each shot 243s in the boys division.

Chase McDonald of Chester Area shot a 76 to win medalist honors in the boys division and Jadyn McDonald topped the girls division with a 77.
