Glastonbury finds form, gets by Manchester

Feb. 26—The Glastonbury High boys basketball team may have been a little rusty in its return to the court Monday following a COVID-19 related pause in activities.

By Thursday however, that rust had subsided.

Behind 15 points from Peter Sposito, the Guardians topped host Manchester 46-44 in CCC Region C play.

With his team down 46-44 with 3.2 seconds to play, Manchester's (2-4) Jared Lindstrom threw a full-court pass to Jaylen Torres. But the ball grazed off Torres' fingertips and went out of bounds, giving the Guardians (1-1) the ball and the win.

Galstonbury didn't get to play a game until Monday, a 73-49 loss to East Hartford. The Guardians led 19-18 after one quarter Thursday before extending the lead to 28-23 at halftime.

Tate Kuiper and Jack Hennessy each added 10 points in the win. Troy Butler scored a game-high 23 points for the Red Hawks, including seven treys. Lindstrom added eight points.
