Girls Tournament Draw: John Glenn, Meadowbrook earn top-five seeds

Three of the four area teams will open at home, as the East District held its girls tournament draw on Sunday.

John Glenn was voted the second seed in Division II behind West Holmes with Indian Creek third, Carrollton fourth and Steubenville fifth.

Cambridge was voted the 17th seed, and other Muskingum Valley League squads were Philo eighth, Morgan 10th, Maysville 12th and River View 14th.

The Muskies welcome 16th seed Minerva in the pigtail game at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 and the winner faces River View at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15. John Glenn would host the Lady Bears with a win.

The Bobcats will travel to West Holmes, while Philo heads to seventh seed Harrison Central, Morgan hosts 11th seed Dover and Maysville plays at ninth seed Zanesville. All games are at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.

All sectional finals will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. John Glenn would see the winner of Zanesville-Maysville in the district semifinal.

The district semifinals are slated for Wednesday, Feb. 22 and the district final is on Saturday, Feb. 25.

In Division III, Union Local earned the top seed with Tusky Valley second, Fort Frye third, West Muskingum fourth and Meadowbrook fifth.

The Colts host eighth seed Bellaire, and the Tornadoes welcome 15th seed Richmond Edison, as both tip off at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15. Meadowbrook and West M would face off with wins in the sectional final at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.

Buckeye Trail was given the ninth seed and will host Ridgewood in a pigtail game at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. The winner travels to Fort Frye in the sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The district semifinals are slated for Wednesday, Feb. 22.
