Girls tennis roundup: LQPV/D-B, Luverne, Morris/CA and Pipestone advance in Section 3A

Oct. 6—MADISON — The Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd girls tennis team advanced to Section 3A team semifinals after beating MACCRAY 6-1 Wednesday.

The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was rained out.

LQPV/D-B won at Nos. 1-3 singles and swept the doubles.

At No. 1 singles, Katelyn Wittnebel beat MACCRAY's Tayte Nokleby 6-2, 1-6, 10-8.

The Wolverines' point came at No. 4 singles, where Erika Pieper edged Sadie Hacker 6-2, 7-5.

LQPV/D-B plays Luverne in the semifinals at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Huether Family Match Pointe indoor facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The semifinal winners meet later Thursday for the championship.

At stake is a berth in the state Class A team tournament Oct. 25 at the Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

Benson/KMS' Elle Klescher won her No. 1 singles match over Rayann Remme 6-0, 6-0. Elise Duncan and Greta Multhauf won at No. 1 doubles, 7-5, 6-1 and Alana Hettever and Milgo Abdi won at No. 2 doubles 6-3, 6-4.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta swept the doubles and won at No. 4 singles to tip Montevideo in the Section 3A playoffs at Morris.

Montevideo's Cameron Myer, Brooke Lindman and Annie Marquardt won at Nos. 1-3 singles.

Myers' victory at No. 1 singles over Claire Stark was 6-4, 1-6, 10-3.

Morris/CA plays the Pipestone at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Huether Family Match Pointe indoor facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The championship match follows.
