GIRLS TENNIS: Bemidji ends regular season with another triangular sweep

Sep. 29—FERGUS FALLS — The Bemidji High School girls tennis team ended the regular season on a high note on Thursday, breezing past Fergus Falls and Moorhead in a triangular in Fergus. BHS defeated the Otters 6-1 and the Spuds 5-2.

Six Lumberjacks went undefeated on the day, a tally comprised of two singles players and two doubles teams.

In going 2-0, Emily Dondelinger had the highlight of the day for Bemidji (16-2) from the No. 1 singles spot. Dondelinger defeated Moorhead's Katryna Hansen, one of the heavyweights of Section 8AA, with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 comeback win. Dondelinger also picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win against the Otters.

Elizabeth Peterson also went 2-0 on the day, winning 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 against Fergus Falls and 6-1, 6-0 against Moorhead at No. 4 singles.

In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Darby Neis and Maddie Jensen prevailed 6-4, 6-0 against Fergus and 6-3, 6-2 against Moorhead. Finally, the No. 3 pairing of Noelle Mueller and Sam Wood respectively won 6-1, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-2 against the same schools.

Elsewhere for Bemidji, Anna Glen had a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win at No. 2 singles against Fergus Falls, while the No. 2 doubles team of Kendal Midboe and Elena Peterson won 6-4, 6-2 in the same match.

Against Moorhead, Aline Arenas also scooped up a 6-0, 7-5 win from No. 3 singles, ensuring that every Lumberjack had at least one win for the day.

BHS will now begin postseason play, starting with the 8AA North Subsection Team Tournament. It commences on Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Fargo, N.D.

Seedings and match times will be announced Friday, Sept. 30, and Bemidji is likely to be the No. 1 seed in the North subsection.
