GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Jim Thorpe reaches D-11 final

Mar. 9—NEW TRIPOLI — Jim Thorpe advanced to the District 11 Class 4A girls' basketball final Monday night, topping No. 1 seed Northwestern Lehigh 62-41 in the semifinal round.
The fourth-seeded Olympians (19-5) will now meet No. 3 Allentown Central Catholic in Thursday night's title game at the PP&L Center in Allentown. ACC scored a dramatic 49-47 victory over Schuylkill League champion North Schuylkill in the other semifinal.
Skyler Searfoss led the way with 23 points and Leila Hurley added 20 for the Olympians, who led 34-22 at the half and 52-30 after three quarters.

BETHLEHEM — Kaiden Herron scored 13 points for Jim Thorpe, whose six-game winning streak ended with a loss at Bethlehem Catholic in a District 11 Class 4A semifinal game.
Bethlehem Catholic, which faces Allentown Central Catholic for the district title at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the PPL Center in Allentown, took a 31-17 halftime lead.
Steve Recchio's 15 points led three double-figure scorers for Bethlehem Catholic.
