The New York Giants dropped their first game of the season to a divisional rival, the Dallas Cowboys, on Monday night.

It was a disappointing game from Big Blue as they had the opportunity to be one of three undefeated teams remaining. However, due to poor offensive line play and some key errors, the Giants could not come out on top. With the 23-16 defeat, New York falls to 2-1 and third in the NFC East.

While things may not have gone his way in the win-loss column, Saquon Barkley was a standout player in this contest.

Along with Daniel Jones, he provided the only offense for the Giants. The former Nittany Lion rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries coming out to an efficient 5.8 yards per tote. Barkley also added four receptions and 45 receiving yards boasting the longest catch of the night, 21 yards.

The former second overall pick scored the Giants’ lone touchdown as he rushed for 36 yards eluding several defenders. At the time, this put the Giants up 13-6 and in a good position to win the game.

Barkley will have another opportunity to improve on his great start to the season (second time Giants Wire Player of the Game) as New York travels to Chicago next Sunday.
