The quick turnaround to Thursday Night Football won't allow a couple key Giants players to be available versus the Washington Football Team.

Tight end Evan Engram and guard Shane Lemieux have been ruled out for the game.

Engram didn't play in the opener as he's been dealing with a calf injury since the end of training camp. Joe Judge said that the team hoped he'd be available as he ramped up his rehab in preparation to suit up Thursday, but it obviously didn't work out.

Lemieux, who has playing through a knee ailment heading into Week 1, had to leave the game early in the first half against the Denver Broncos, with newcomer Ben Bredeson taking over for him.

The Giants also listed Saquon Barkley as questionable, but don't read into that too much. Barkley is expected to play, though he mentioned Tuesday how the short rest wasn't the best situation for him after playing in his first game in a year on Sunday.

"I don’t think the schedule is ideal for coming back off a major knee injury to have two games back-to-back, but that’s what it is," Barkley said after practice Tuesday. "That’s the challenge I have to face."

Barkley had just 10 carries for 26 yards in his debut, so we'll see if he gets the same workload or more chances to make an impact despite an early week.

Engram's absence means Kyle Rudolph and Kaden Smith will take over tight end duties. They both were non-factors in their season debuts. Bredeson figures to fill in for Lemieux again as well.
