Giants claim former Bills CB Olaijah Griffin off waivers

The New York Giants have claimed cornerback Olaijah Griffin off of waivers from the Buffalo Bills, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

The defender was released by the Bills on Sunday following the team’s 27-24 preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts. Buffalo cut him in the team’s efforts to get under 85 players by the NFL’s deadline on Wednesday.

Griffin is the latest Bills player to follow the trail blazed before him to the Giants.

That began when New York hired former Buffalo offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as the team’s head coach this spring. That makes plenty of sense considering the familiarity.

Griffin signed with the Bills as an undrafted free agent after the 2021 NFL draft.

He spent last season on the Bills’ practice squad. In January, Griffin had signed a futures contract with the Bills.
